Around the Block distills a collection of still images of a typical urban neighborhood into an idiosyncratic video continuum. The accompanying soundscape is not so delimited. It provides tempting glimpses into the distance.

The work forms a dynamic stream of familiar spaces, revealing much about the texture and syntax of our urban existence while questioning the culture of privatization and disconnection.

This occurred by the word spam, originally a tinned meat used in rationing during the war, becoming a term to represent excessive unwanted mail. This transposed onto the internet and it’s transactions of messages now known as emails, and the unwanted ones termed as spam.
